What is Storyblok?

Storyblok is a so called headless CMS which means it holds all your content like images, texts and other assets and sends them via API to your website, mobile app, your front office monitors and even your fridge (if it has IoT capabilities).

This is a different approach then for example WordPress, because by decoupling the frontend (website, app etc.) and CMS you gain lots of advantages, a few of them are: you add content to the CMS once and display it in multiple locations (think multiple websites of a big enterprise), better security, easier integration of third party tools (no more WordPress PlugIns - yay!) and if you get bored of your website design you just change the website itself, the content stays where it is.

Ok but how does it actually work?

Since Storyblok is just the CMS we will explain how it works using Lego. Imagine every single section on your website is a Lego brick. The hero section (the thing on top of your home page) with its headline, subheadline, buttons and image is a Lego brick, your newsletter signup section is another Lego brick, the testimonial section with all your customers reviews is also a brick.

At the end of the design-phase of our projects we sit together with you and talk about how these bricks should work. The design tells us how they look like but we need to talk about their functionality in Storyblok. Because you don't want to pay us to design your new website only to change colors, border-radius, fonts etc later. That's not how a website should be used. So we decide what makes sense to change, like a button color from primary to secondary, or an image on the right side next to a text to switch sides. Because only then we can make sure that we can optimize the design and make it fully responsive and also that you can work with these bricks without spending hours on picking the right color, font and so on.
